  • Watering:

    • Growing season (spring to summer): Water regularly, but allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings.

    • Dormant season (fall to winter): Stop watering completely until new growth appears. Overwatering during dormancy can lead to rot.

  • Soil: Use a well-draining, porous mix, like a cactus or succulent blend with added perlite, pumice, or gravel.

  • Fertilizing: Use moderate, slow-release fertilizer sparingly during the active growing season.

  • Dormancy: This species is winter dormant—the vines die back and should be pruned to maintain shape. During dormancy, keep the caudex dry and avoid disturbing the plant.
